DANCE CLASS

  • You DO NOT need any prior dance experience. This is meant to be an intro level class and I will be offering modifications as we go.

  • If you have certain injuries/conditions that prevent you from doing certain activity/movement, that's no problem. You can participate at whatever level works for you.

  • You do not need to attend every class. If you have conflicts on certain days, totally fine! Each class is going to be drop-in style, so while attending several is definitely going to benefit you and allow you to build on your skills more effectively, anyone can come to whatever classes they please.

  • I want to encourage everyone to at least give the first class a shot. We won't be doing any choreography - it'll just be an intro to what I'm planning to do for the rest of the fall. If it's not for you, you don't have to come back.

  • This is a really great opportunity for us to get to know each other!! I know that dance auditions can be scary and that learning choreography can be very overwhelming. This class is going to be the perfect chance for you to get a little more comfortable with dance, choreography, and working with me in a very low pressure, low stress environment. It'll also give me the opportunity to see how you can improve over time which will only help both of us!

  • If you're going to come to class, here is what I ask of you:

    • Please wear dance-appropriate clothes. I'm not asking you to wear a leotard and tights (although you absolutely can if that's how you feel most comfortable), but I do ask that you wear clothes you can really move in. Leggings, dance pants, joggers, and sweatpants are all acceptable. Just please do not wear jeans.

    • If you have any type of dance shoes, bring them! We're going to be doing some ballet work and some jazz choreography, so flat shoes (i.e. ballet shoes or jazz shoes) are ideal. You can bring character shoes if you have them, but we likely won't need them.

      • If you don't have dance shoes, you can wear sneakers or whatever shoes you do have. However, I recommend getting a pair of jazz shoes and/or ballet shoes. You're likely going to need jazz shoes for the musical (or another musical) anyway. Unfortunately we can't have you dancing barefoot on this stage and socks will be too slippery.

    • Please also bring sneakers. We will be doing some conditioning work so sneakers are helpful to have.

    • Bring a water bottle and deodorant.

  • Lastly, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email me (kmcgrail@pascack.org). I am happy to share whatever information I can that might help.

Looking forward to seeing you on the 10th!

-McGrail
